Santander Salt becomes title sponsor of TAG Racing for 2019

TAG Racing have revealed new title sponsor ahead of the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, joining forces with Kent-based Santander Salt, a leading UK supplier of white marine de-icing salt and other winter maintenance products to local authorities, businesses and domestic customers.

The Kent based business have had a consistent presence in the Bennetts BSB paddock for many years, running a string of successful British Sidecar teams. The new partnership will see the TAG Yamaha Racing team run in the Santander Salt TAG Racing colours with fans’ favourite Chris Walker alongside passenger Tom Christie, who are aiming for the British Sidecar Championship.

Roger Body of Santander Salt said: “I'm really excited about the prospect of teaming up with Rob and Tracy of TAG Racing for 2019. It's long been an ambition of mine to have the Sidecar class more integrated with the Superbike paddock, and we have seen things moving that ways in recent seasons.

“The inclusion of Chris Walker to the sidecar ranks in 2016 generated a huge amount of interest, and now he is back and will be wearing TAG Racing colours, that in my book is a “win-win.”

“As a former Grand Prix sidecar driver I have a deep interest in keeping the sport at the level it deserves, and this is another major step towards that goal. Rob Winfield and I have similar business interests, and those synergies will certainly help in the ongoing relationship.

“Furthermore, they are a totally committed and professional team, whilst at the same time not losing sight of the enjoyment factor. Having fun whilst going racing is important, and the TAG Racing team is such a friendly bunch, we are all very much looking forward to the season.

“To have the Santander Salt brand carried on both Superbike and Sidecar will send a very strong message, and is a source of real satisfaction for me, with another box ticked.”

Team owner Rob Winfield added: “We are delighted to have Santander Salt onboard for the new season, we have been in talks for a while with Roger and they have always been positive. It’s great to be working with such a large company that has the passion they do for motorsport and we are delighted to have them aboard, for what we feel will be a successful season.

“We have had a slight change of livery for 2019 which is even more striking, we know we have the riders capable of winning races and collecting points, so I’m excited for the season ahead.”
