Reiterberger set for Bennetts BSB Oktoberfest by joining Global Robots BMW

Markus Reiterberger will make his Bennetts British Superbike Championship debut at Donington Park next weekend (October 2/3/4) as the former European Superstock 1000 champion lines up alongside Peter Hickman in the Global Robots BMW team.

Reiterberger has proven to be a fierce contender during his career in domestic Superbike action; winning the IDM Superbike Championship in his native Germany in 2013 and 2015.

The 26-year-old already has a strong association with BMW, celebrating title victory in the FIM European Superstock 1000 Champion in 2018 with the manufacturer, with four victories and two third places on the alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW.

Reiterberger said: “I am happy to get the chance to compete for the Global Robots BMW team with Peter Hickman, in the British Superbike Championship races in Donington Park. The level in BSB is really high, especially because the bikes have little electronic support, for example no traction and wheelie control, which will be new for me.

“Thanks to the incredible support of alpha Racing I will be able to attend the event with two experienced staff members, my new crew chief and my long time suspension expert and I will get the chance to showcase myself in another top-class championship.

“My expectations are quite high, even if I know that I shouldn't set them too high due to the lack of preparation time. We'll see how it turns out - I'll try to put on a good show and I'm really looking forward to the weekend with the Global Robots BMW team at Donington Park.”

Global Robots BMW Team Manager Darren Jones commented: “I’m really pleased to have Markus join us for Donington Park next weekend. He has a lot of history and knowledge with BMW and he will also be bringing some of his crew to join ours so I’m really looking forward to working together and seeing what we can achieve.

“There is no pressure at all from us, he is very aware of the level of BSB, but relishes the challenge to learn and move forward. Of course we are all missing Alex in the garage who is now finally at home recovering and no doubt he will be watching and cheering us on from the sofa!”
