IMR plan Superbike programme for 2020 after successful start to 2019 in Superstock

Team IMR have had a strong start to their 2019 Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship campaign this season with Alex Olsen currently holding third place in the overall standings ahead of Snetterton, with the team focused on progressing to the premier Superbike class next year.

Olsen has taking victory already this season to become one of the five riders to have stood on the top step of the podium so far this year with Team IMR. The consistent start to the season boosted the team after a challenging 2018 campaign, but Olsen has rewarded the team for its efforts with eight podiums including a win.

IMR is currently in the process of moving its base from Liverpool to the Midlands to help with the teams plans of progressing to the Superbike class in 2020.

Team Principle Ian Moffitt commented: “We really are enjoying the season so far. Our rider has worked hard, as have the team around him to achieve some excellent results. The whole team, which was all new for 2019 are working really well together. Alex and our Crew Chief Scott Thompson get on brilliantly and are able to bring the best out of each other.

“We are not taking our eye off the ball for the rest of 2019, but we feel now is the time to start making our plans for 2020. Our intention is to run a one rider Superbike team and possibly assist an up and coming rider in a support class.

“We have not signed any riders or decided on a manufacturer yet, although we have a preferred option for both. We believe that racing in the Superbike class would bring a higher profile to our sponsors as we look ahead to next season.

“We are excited and look forward to the rest of the season in the Superstock 1000 class and we will continue to work on our plans for 2020.”
