Iddon tops final free practice ahead of Datatag Qualifying

Christian Iddon topped the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship free practice session at Oulton Park this afternoon ahead of Datatag Qualifying in Cheshire as the track continued to dry after an earlier shower.

The Tyco BMW rider’s final lap moved him ahead of Andrew Irwin who also leapt up the order in the final moments with Joe Francis completing the top three at his home round of the season.

Glenn Irwin had been fastest in the final ten minutes but he dropped down to fourth after the final flurry of improvements with Scott Redding impressing in fifth in the changeable conditions for Be Wiser Ducati.

Ryan Vickers had a brief spell at the top; he ended sixth fastest for the RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki team ahead of Peter Hickman and Josh Brookes, who had ended the session before the final run of laps after a positive run in the damp conditions.

Matt Truelove was the leading Yamaha contender as Jason O'Halloran crashed out unhurt at Lodge earlier in the session with Luke Stapleford completing the top ten.
