Farmer leads BMW charge to Donington Park triple-header

Keith Farmer heads the BMW contenders ahead of this weekend’s third round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park and the Tyco BMW team are continuing to make progress with the development of the new S 1000 RR.

Farmer returned to the Superbike grid this season after lifting the Superstock title for the team last year and the Tyco BMW contender is eager to build on the seventh and eighth place finishes last time out at Oulton Park.

Farmer said: “There was no real expectations for me being that this year was my first time back in Superbikes since 2014 and obviously with the all-new BMW we knew it would be all about learning the bike, for both myself and the team. I have been learning to get the best out of myself back on the Superbike and it has been positive so far even though we had limited testing time but we have come away with points in every race so far. We had two top ten finishes at Oulton Park which I was pleasantly surprised with and I did my fastest lap there on a Superbike and felt comfortable.

“I have been getting to grips with the Superbike style again. This weekend I am hoping again for two top tens at a track that I really enjoy and I know it’s the shorter circuit, but it isn’t that much different and I am looking forward to it. There are some new parts on the way and our aim is to just keep working to improve. I am proper excited to be back in the Superbike class and to be in the top ten on a less than Stock bike and to be the top BMW is brilliant. I just need to keep my feet on the ground and not expect too much and just keep trying to do the best job I possibly can.”
