Brookes pips Redding on final lap of warm up ahead of race two

Josh Brookes mugged his Be Wiser Ducati teammate of the top spot in warm up at Oulton Park ahead of today’s two decisive Bennetts British Superbike Championship races in Cheshire to decide the final six riders in the Showdown.

Brookes and Redding had been dueling at the top of the times with Redding having the edge as he took the chequered flag on the session; however, with Brookes on his final lap of warm up he was able to improve his pace to move ahead by 0.163s.

Bradley Ray posted the third fastest time following his first podium finish of the season yesterday for the Buildbase Suzuki team, holding off Showdown hopeful Peter Hickman as he bids to overhaul the riders ahead of him in the standings in today’s two races.

Glenn Irwin led the Tyco BMW pairing in fifth place, narrowly moving ahead of Danny Buchan and FS3-Racing Kawasaki who confirmed their place in the Showdown after yesterday’s opening race.

Luke Stapleford made it both Buildbase Suzukis inside the top ten with Andrew Irwin holding eighth place, although following his penalty from race one yesterday he will not take part in today’s race two. He currently holds sixth place in the standings with a single point advantage over Hickman in seventh.

Christian Iddon closed to within ten points of Andrew Irwin in sixth place yesterday in the standings and the Tyco BMW rider held ninth place in warm up with Luke Mossey completing the top ten for OMG Racing Suzuki.

Tarran Mackenzie holds fifth place in the overall standings for McAMS Yamaha and he set the eleventh fastest time in this morning’s warm up.
