Barbera set for second helping with first visit to Brands Hatch

Hector Barbera made his Bennetts British Superbike Championship debut last time out at Donington Park and is back on the grid again this weekend at Brands Hatch, deputising for Ben Currie who is still recovering from injury at Quattro Plant – JG Speedfit Kawasaki.

Former MotoGP rider Barbera instantly impressed on his first foray into Bennetts BSB racing, adapting to the different spec Superbike to claim a sixth place in his first race and then an eighth place finish plus a pole position. The Spanish contender will get his first taste of the Grand Prix circuit though this weekend, on his first visit to the Kent track.

Barbera said: “I am very excited as this is another new opportunity and a new circuit for me. For Kawasaki I believe that Brands Hatch has been a very good circuit in the past and the bike felt very good at Donington Park.

“I need to try and learn the circuit but it looks incredible on the videos. I think after FP1 and FP2 my feeling will get better once I have done more laps and I can’t wait until Friday. I really enjoyed working with the team at Donington Park, but this weekend will be all new.

“I am ready and I want to get started as everybody says this round is amazing. The goal is to stay in the top positions from the first free practice; this championship is fantastic.”

The fourth round of the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship hits Brands Hatch on June 14/15/16 June for more information and to book visit www.brandshatch.co.uk
