Andrew Irwin leads warm up ahead of race one at Thruxton

Andrew Irwin and Honda Racing set the pace in an incredibly close Bennetts British Superbike Championship morning warm up session at Thruxton as he held off Josh Brookes by just 0.036s at the chequered flag with less than a second covering the top 19 riders ahead of the opening race this afternoon.

Andrew Irwin had been leading the way for the majority of the session, but Brookes pushed him all the way in the 15-minute session to open the Superbike action at the high-speed Hampshire circuit.

Danny Buchan had a strong session in third place for FS-3 Racing Kawasaki with Jason O'Halloran and McAMS Yamaha making it four different manufacturers inside the top four this morning with pole-sitter Scott Redding completing the top five.

Glenn Irwin had another strong showing in sixth place as he prepares to make his debut for the Tyco BMW team with Luke Stapleford and Dan Linfoot in eighth. Home hero Tommy Bridewell was ninth fastest, narrowly ahead of Xavi Forés on the second Honda Racing Fireblades.
