Scott Swann saw off a tough fight from Luke Mossey to take victory in the first Superstock scrap of the weekend.
Starting from pole, Swann got a clean getaway at the lights as Mossey slotted into second after passing championship leader David Allingham who dropped to third – and the order remained the same for the first part of the race.
The Safety Car came out at the start of Lap 10 when wildcard, local rider James McLaren crashed and when it went in at the end of Lap 12, Swann backed the pack up but it didn’t work, as Mossey scythed past him into Turn One.
Allingham dropped back to fifth in the melee but was back up to fourth within two laps and moved back to third on Lap 15 as up front, Swann was right on Mossey’s back wheel.
With three laps to go, Mossey and Swann had pulled a bit of a gap on Allingham and backmarkers began to come into play. Swann had been planning a move for a few laps and made the move down the back straight as the pair negotiated one of the slower riders to move to the front.
It was job done for Swann who managed to pull enough of a gap to cross the line first with Mossey second, Allingham third, Lewis Rollo fourth and Declan Connell fifth.
