Max Cook has been building momentum with AJN Steelstock bimota and after a rollercoaster weekend at Snetterton, the team are determined to make amends as the ZYN British Superbike Championship reaches Brands Hatch.
Cook scored a podium finish at Snetterton and was in the podium fight for all three races, but two technical issues halted their momentum. However, ready to bounce back at Brands Hatch, the team have high hopes after an impressive start to the season.
Cook said: “I was feeling quite good about the weekend at Snetterton despite the DNFs, it was just one of those things and there was nothing that myself or the team could have done. When it was going well, it was going really well. I enjoyed riding the bike, enjoyed being as fast as we were and the AJN Steelstock bimota was working really nicely at Snetterton.
“I think there is still more in the tank for sure, overall it was a solid weekend and we showed what we could do. I think getting on the podium in race two was a huge result; I know moved into second because of the penalty, so got a little lucky, but I think it was the result we deserved after race one with the gear shifter fault.
“I think the main thing was we stayed positive, keeping our heads held high as I feel that the whole team is doing such a good job, and there is no point getting disappointed with something that is totally out of our control. It is all part of racing and I feel that I am riding a bit of a crest of the wave at the minute and I am really enjoying riding at the sharp end.
“Brands Hatch next is one of my favourite circuits and I think the bike should perform so well around the Grand Prix circuit as the corners should play to the strengths of the AJN Steelstock bimota and I can’t wait to get out again to be fair. It was a bit sad to leave Snetterton on the race three result but other than that, we know what we can do and I think we will definitely be there in the mix.”
