Ben Currie enjoyed his second win of the weekend after a wet weather masterclass from the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing rider.
In almost a carbon copy of yesterday’s race, rain hit shortly before the start, deeming it a wet race and it became instantly clear that tyre choice would be the major factor in the 16-lap battle.
On intermediate tyres, Currie charged through from the third row to be up to second before the end of the opening lap. He tailed leader TJ Toms for another lap before hitting the front into Druids on Lap Three, as behind, Joe Talbot found a way past Toms seconds later to move into P2.
The front two never changed from there and while Talbot stuck close to his rival for a few laps, he was unable to get close enough for a move and Currie soon began to build what would become an unassailable lead, eventually crossing the line 14.082secs clear of Talbot.
Third home was points leader Rhys Irwin, who rode an impressive race to power through from a fourth row start, as polesitter Ben Luxton improved on yesterday’s fifth by finishing fourth. Joe Sheldon-Shaw was fifth, just ahead of defending champion Jack Kennedy who managed to salvage sixth from a fifth row start.
Joe Farragher was back on top in the Cup as he took the class win, just ahead of Keo Walker with Ben Tolliday third.
