DAO Racing Kawasaki were back on track at Knockhill today (Tuesday) as Danny Buchan and Brayden Elliott were able to test in both wet and dry conditions ahead of the forthcoming round at the Fife circuit.
Buchan, a previous race winner at the circuit, and teammate Elliott utilised the track time to focus mainly on electronics, with Elliott also taking advantage of the different changing as he continues to add to his experience during his first full season in the Bennetts BSB class.
Buchan said: “At the end of the day I am happy. We got some wet and dry laps, with a strict test plan which we started the morning with and stuck to. We made some progress with the bike and felt a lot better than we have done, so I am looking forward to coming back to Knockhill in a couple of weeks, getting down to work and seeing what the race weekend throws at us.”
Elliott said: “We managed to get the morning in the dry up until lunch with about 40 or 50 laps so that was positive and we were able to worth through some changes, mainly electronics with the bike. Then this afternoon has been torrential but I did another 20 or 30 laps in the rain, which was good for me as I have only ridden the Superbike in the rain once or twice before, so that was positive too.”
Team Manager Jonny Bagnall commented: “It’s obvious as a team we have had a tough start to what was supposed to be a promising first full season focusing on BSB. The Knockhill test was a great opportunity to try and pinpoint the areas where we have been struggling.
“Both Brayden and Danny were given a structured plan to work through, and by doing so, we have certainly made steps forward. Unfortunately, the rain arrived just before dinner, but that didn’t stop us getting more valuable laps.
“As a team, we can now go back to HQ and review the information gained to make more progress before the next round of BSB at Knockhill. Although we never aimed at a time attack, both riders are satisfied with what we have achieved and have come away in a far better place than we left Donington Park.”
