Triumph UK will showcase their heritage in British Championship racing at Donington Park this weekend with activities throughout the event at this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship round.
Triumph’s introduction to the British Supersport Championship first came in 2003, a historic season for the British manufacturer as they returned to racing after more than 30 years. In the guise of the Valmoto team, they entered the series with the Daytona 600 as Jim Moodie and Craig Jones led their bid for success. The team ended their debut season on a high at Donington Park with a podium finish by Jones.
Valmoto Triumph continued into the 2004 Championship with Jones and he delivered some incredible performances, including a sensation race win again at Donington Park for the season finale. Indeed one of the highlights this weekend will be the return of the Valmoto Triumph Daytona to the track, when 2011 BSB champion and friend, Tommy Hill will ride one of Jones’ bikes, kindly loaned from the Dick Shepherd Collection, around the track where he famously took the victory.
The Dynavolt Triumph team head into this weekend off the back of victory in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race last time out at Thruxton, as Kyle Smith holds third place in the overall standings and Brandon Paasch targets his first top three finish. Fans can meet the riders on Sunday at the Triumph display, located in the paddock from 11.30 - 11.45am.
The display will feature the latest technology and Heritage, courtesy of long-time Triumph collector, Dick Shepherd. Meanwhile on track, Triumph owners have the opportunity to ride their bikes around a lap of the circuit on Sunday and park in a dedicated Triumph owners’ exclusive bike park.
