Buchan: “The real me is showing up this weekend!”

Danny Buchan is ready to be back in the podium hunt at Brands Hatch this weekend for the next round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship after missing out on top ten finishes last time out at Donington Park, ending his run of three consecutive podium finishes.

The FS3-Racing Kawasaki rider had a brilliant start to his 2019 campaign, scoring podium finishes in three of the opening four races, but at Donington Park after a steady start in free practice, the Essex-based contender bagged the points but not podium finishes to maintain his top six position in the standings. This weekend though, Buchan is ready to return to his podium finishing form from the earlier rounds of the season.

Buchan said: “I am peaking about being back at Brands Hatch this weekend because at Donington Park it wasn’t a bad weekend but I felt a bit on the back foot compared to how we had been at the first two rounds.

“I just didn’t feel good at the start of the weekend and it wasn’t until Saturday that it started to come good and I think if we had another session or race we would have been closer, but I think it just didn’t come together straight off but the races were actually pretty good in the end. If I take that as a bad weekend then we are doing well because we had scored the points that matter and stayed in the top six.

“We are all working really well as a team and we have shown in the first races how good the Kawasaki is, so I’m looking forward to the weekend as I love Brands Hatch. I have had a word with myself and the real Danny Buchan is turning up ready for Friday rather than the one that turned up on Friday at Donington Park.”
