Bridewell buoyant ahead of Brands Hatch

Tommy Bridewell sits just six points adrift of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship lead ahead of the forthcoming Brands Hatch round and he is determined to bag the Oxford Racing Ducati team their first victory in the series.

Bridewell has been one of the most consistent podium finishes so far, standing on the rostrum in four of the seven opening races of the season. However after missing out twice on the top step at Oulton Park and again at Donington Park, he arrives for the next round in Kent in a fired up mood to achieve the next goal of the season.

Bridewell said: “It was disappointing to not get the win at Donington, but it was positive that we were not that far off every win and I would rather finish third or fourth that close to the winner than second and miles off.

“I was hoping for more because we have been so close this year so far, but I was happy because it has never clicked for me at Donington before and this year was no exception and we really had to work for it.

“I have to be honest if someone said pre-season where would you expect the Ducati to work well I would have said Brands Hatch - so we will see. I think it will be the one to beat although you can’t take anything away from the other manufacturers as Yamaha has been notoriously strong there before.

“Everyone keeps asking me but there is no pressure on me to win, yes of course that’s the aim for every rider but ultimately I need to be consistent because we need to be in the top six. The goal though is very simple - to go to Brands Hatch and win races and I believe that myself and the team can do that. I was frustrated not to win at Donington for sure but I believe that we have the package to do it and I want to succeed for myself and the team - I want that big trophy at the end of the season!”
