Barbera set for Snetterton as Glenn Irwin ruled out

Hector Barbera will be returning to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship grid at Snetterton, lining up for the Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki team, replacing Glenn Irwin who is suffering from a virus which is causing partial vision.

Spaniard Barbera debuted for the title-winning team at Donington Park earlier in the season, securing a sixth and eighth place finish, plus scoring a pole position for the final race in the triple-header weekend. He also deputised for Ben Currie at Brands Hatch, before the Australian returned to action at Knockhill last time out.

Team Owner Pete Extance commented: “Hector did a superb job for us earlier in the season, the whole team really enjoyed working with him and we can see the potential for Hector in BSB. As always, new riders to the series have to learn the new circuits which are so different to what they have been used to, but we look forward to welcoming him back this weekend. We also want to wish Glenn a speedy recovery from his illness.”
