Ryde fastest in closing Silverstone session by 0.082s

Kyle Ryde saved his best lap until last in the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship session at Silverstone to top the final session for Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW, although lap times were slower than earlier in the day as conditions changed.

In the final session, cooler conditions and the threat of rain meant the contenders were quick to head out onto the circuit with Glenn Irwin posting a 53.138s in the early stages to take the early advantage.

The session was red flagged when Josh Brookes crashed the VisionTrack Ducati at Becketts, which ended his day prematurely; the defending champion was able to walk away from the high-speed crash but sustained a finger injury.

At the red flag Danny Buchan had moved to the top of the times for SYNETIQ BMW ahead of Glenn Irwin and Tommy Bridewell with Andrew Irwin and Xavi Forés completing the top five, however it was all change again in the final ten minutes of the day.

Ryde saved his best until last to top the times in the final session, although conditions prevented anyone topping the times from the penultimate session of the day. Glenn Irwin was second ahead of Danny Buchan and Andrew Irwin in the final session as the SYNETIQ BMW pairing held positions in the top five ahead of Danny Kent.

Gino Rea was just adrift of his teammate in sixth place with Forés holding seventh place on the leading FHO Racing BMW. Tommy Bridewell, Christian Iddon and Ryan Vickers completed the top ten.
