The Ultimate Racing Yamaha team was launched at the start of 2008 when rider Peter Hickman was unable to secure a ride for the forthcoming season and he faced an uncertain year. However with the support of former sponsor Ian Drake of Ultimate Racing and father David Hickman the trio were able to form a race team to contest the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship.

The team, with the added support of Martin and Suzanne Sleaford and several other personal sponsors, were able to beat the race against time and lined up on the grid for the opening round of the championship. The Ultimate Racing team ran their debut season on a tight budget but despite this still managed to end the season third in the championship and competed in selected rounds of the European Superstock Championship towards the end of the year.

In 2009 the team remained the same but stepped up to compete in BSB with the new Yamaha R1. The squad had several podium finishes in the Mirror.co.uk Cup and ended second in the standings.

For 2010 the infrastructure remains unchanged and Hickman and the team are set for a new challenge of running in the main championship and are aiming for top ten finishes throughout the season.
