Northern Ireland based TAS Racing is owned and run by father and son pairing, Hector and Philip Neill. The team, who will run under the SYNETIQ BMW banner again in 2021, as BMW Motorrad UK’s Official squad, have signed Andrew Irwin and Danny Buchan to ride the all-new M 1000 RR S1000RR machinery in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, after TAS Racing celebrated its 20th Anniversary last year.
The TAS Racing team initially started competitive racing on the roads in 2001. Since their inception they have amassed an impressive résumé including lap records and wins at all the major road race events including the Isle of Man TT.
TAS Racing stepped up to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2008 after four successful seasons in the British Supersport Championship. The team moved to Bennetts BSB as the reigning British Supersport champions with Michael Laverty.
In 2008 Laverty proved that the squad could mix it at the front with the already established teams in the paddock whilst Alastair Seeley secured the team the National Superstock 1000 and British Supersport titles in 2009 and 2011. Both Laverty and Seeley sealed Showdown positions for the team during their tenure.
The team narrowly missed out on the Showdown in recent seasons with riders including Christian Iddon, Michael Laverty and their 2018 National Superstock champion Keith Farmer. Last season Bradley Ray scored SYNETIQ BMW top ten finishes on the S 1000 RR, with Taylor Mackenzie hampered by injury.
