Riders Racing was formed in 2004 when the team entered Martin Jessopp in the British Superstock Championship onboard a Ducati. Jessopp entered the championships again for the following three seasons before moving to BSB.
In the 2008 BSB season Jessopp switched to riding a Honda Fireblade, finishing second in the Cup and winning the Airwaves Kick it up a Gear Award. In 2009 Jessopp was back competing in the Cup and with ten podium finishes he was third in the overall standings.
In 2010 the team doubled their efforts with Michael Rutter, one of the most experienced riders in the BSB paddock, joining Jessopp and moved from Honda to Ducati machinery.
For 2011 Rutter and Jessopp are back onboard the Ducatis and the pair are both determined to challenge for championship glory. Rutter is looking to improve on his fifth place in the overall 2010 standings and Jessopp is back to full fitness following his crash that ruled him out for the second half of last season.
Nationwide accident compensation experts Rapid Solicitors have announced a major new sponsorship deal with the popular West Country based team and for this season the team will expand to three riders and will also include up and coming Hull-based rider Michael Booth who will compete in the highly competitive National Superstock category.
Riders Racing is owned and managed by Phil Jessopp who is a long time supporter of road racing, having previously been the headline sponsor for the World Championship-winning endurance team Phase One.
The team name originates from the South West dealerships Riders Motorcycles. Riders Motorcycles have branches in Bridgwater, Bristol and their third showroom in Cardiff.
