The 2012 Monster Energy Motostar Championship provided yet more on track battles before Luke Hedger was crowned champion at the penultimate round of the season at Silverstone with the class featuring stars of the future; seven of the top ten finishers in the overall standings aged 16.
The Championship also featured a historic moment last season when Catherine Green became the first female racer to celebrate a British Championship race win, which she claimed in dramatic style at Cadwell Park.
2012 saw the introduction of Moto3 machines within the Monster Energy Motostar British Championship alongside 125GP bikes ensuring this class remains the last bastion of two stroke power for young rider development.
2012 champion Luke Hedger has now stepped up to the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship, so a new champion will be crowned this season. Tarran Mackenzie returns with Redline KTM and this season sees the return of Ed Rendell, Green plus Asher Durham, Joe Francis and Jordan Weaving.
The class is closely watched by some of the major players not only in the UK but also further afield.
