The Speedy Fastest Lap League was introduced in 2011 to the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season with riders scorching to the fastest lap of the race awarded for their performance.
The season-long league awards a point for each race to the rider that records the fastest lap with an extra point also up for grabs if the rider sets a new lap record with the competition running in both the MCE BSB and Motorpoint British Supersport Championship protected by Datatag races.
Last season Josh Brookes and Glen Richards won the 2012 Speedy Fastest Lap League.
In the opening round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship James Ellison took double points from Brands Hatch whilst Billy McConnell and Alastair Seeley took the points in the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship races.
The second round at Thruxton saw MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship leader Shane Byrne and Ellison share the victories whilst in the Motorpoint British Supersport races Alastair Seeley completed a double.
Oulton Park hosted the third round which was dominated by Alex Lowes in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship and Alastair Seeley in the Motorpoint British Supersport class, with Seeley scoring an extra point for the lap record in the Sprint race.
Knockhill was packed to the rafters for the MCE BSB weekend to see Josh Brookes take his first point in race one and Byrne add to his tally in race two. Whilst in Supersport Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson completed a double.
A sun scortched Snetterton allowed Lowes to take the lead at the top of the standings with his fastest lap in MCE BSB race one, Byrne doubled his tally with a race two point. In the Supersport class it was Wilson's team mate Seeley that took both points.
The first outing on the Brands Hatch GP circuit saw James Ellison and Alex Lowes take a point each in the MCE BSB class whilst in Motorpoint British Supersport Jake Dixon scored his first ever fastest lap and Alastair Seeley added a point to his tally.
The return to Oulton Park was the first of the MCE BSB triple headers, Byrne took two points, whilst Lowes took the final point. In the Motorpoint Supersport class Ben Wilson set a new lap record in the first race to earn double points whilst Seeley took the point from the feature race.
The annual visit to Cadwell Park for "party in the park" saw Alex Lowes and Josh Brookes scored a point each in the MCE BSB class. Ben Wilson set a new lap record in the Motorpoint Supersport sprint race scoring two points and Alastair Seeley took the feature race point.
The Showdown decider took place at Donington Park, in MCE BSB James Westmoreland took his first point of the season in race one and doubled it up in race two. The Motorpoint British Supersport Championship also saw new points scorers with Glen Richards taking the point in the sprint race and Stuart Easton setting a new lap record in race two.
Lowes set a new lap record in the opening race at Assen to claim another two points with Ellison adding to his tally in race two in MCE BSB, whilst in the Supersport class Richard Cooper scored his first point of the season and O'Halloran taking the second.
At Silverstone Byrne claimed a point in both races, whilst in the Supersport class Seeley took a double point score in the Sprint race followed by the win in the Featrue race to further extend his lead.
Lowes ended the season with a double points haul as he lifted the season long title. A single point for Seeley continued his run of form in the league as outgoing champion Glen Richards scored the final point of the season.
