Rookie Ray delighted with top eight finish for Buildbase Suzuki

19-year-old Bradley Ray celebrated his best result so far in his rookie  campaign at Brands Hatch yesterday (Monday), scoring an eighth place finish in the second MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race on the Indy circuit.

Ray had secured a twelfth place in the first race of the day, but a brilliant performance from the young gun  saw him battle with John Hopkins, Sylvain Guintoli and Michael Laverty to secure eighth place in only his fourth race in the Superbike clas.

Ray said: “I left Brands Hatch happy, that’s for sure. To have gone into the weekend thinking I would be top ten in the races was never in my mind, but I wanted to build on Donington Park and come away with points. We showed we had the pace for the top five and I was surprised with my 45.3s lap on Saturday!

“I felt really good and it was a shame that we had the crashes and had to rebuild the bike, but for raceday it was back to how it felt in free practice. I am still learning the Superbike and the new Suzuki all the time, but for me to finish in front of Guintoli and Hopkins was unbelievable as I have watched them race so many times on the world stage. My goal now for Oulton Park is to keep improving and not put any pressure on myself and then the results will come.”
