Hopkins gunning for home round success for Moto Rapido Ducati

John Hopkins and the Moto Rapido Ducati team are gearing up for their home round of the MCE British Superbike Championship this weekend at Thruxton and the Winchester-based Ducati dealership team are aiming high ahead of Sunday’s two races.

American Hopkins had a positive start to the Brands Hatch event last time out, but had a tough time in the races and is now ready to build on their experiences so far this year and a test today (Tuesday) at Cadwell Park as they aim to upset the order.

Hopkins said: “I am really excited about Thruxton this weekend. It is definitely the home away from home race for myself and also the home race for the Moto Rapido Ducati team, so I am really excited about it.

“It is a circuit I really enjoy and always one that I have gone really well at. I think the Ducati should work well there because of the way it conserves the tyres. I mean that is the key to the race there and the biggest thing over race distance. The overall throttle response and the flow of the circuit is all about getting into a good rhythm – all things that suit the Ducati.

“I unfortunately wasn’t able to race there last year but we had two potentially really good races in 2015 going where we were right at the front in both, so I really am excited about this year. I think we will go really well there.

“Although Brands Hatch didn’t pan out on raceday the way we would have liked, I am quite confident going into Thruxton that we can have two front-running, solid results and that’s the plan.”
