Bridewell heads opening morning at Jerez from Brookes

Tommy Bridewell set the pace on the opening morning of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Official Test at Jerez, as the conditions improved during the morning with a final flurry of activity before the chequered flag at lunchtime.

The opening session was topped by Christian Iddon on a damp but drying track, however as the second session got underway the track conditions had improved and times tumbled throughout the 50 minutes.

Josh Brookes had set the initial benchmark early in the session for the VisionTrack Ducati ahead of Danny Buchan. The 2015 champion held the advantage into the final 20 minutes when his teammate Iddon had moved into second place with Peter Hickman holding third.

In the final five minutes Bridewell moved into the leading position ahead of Brookes with Tarran Mackenzie leaping into third place on the leading McAMS Yamaha ahead of Hickman and Héctor Barberá who completed the top five.

Iddon held sixth place at the chequered flag ahead of Luke Mossey, Jack Kennedy and Buchan with Jason O'Halloran completing the top ten.
