Andrew Irwin fastest in Silverstone warm up despite crash

Andrew Irwin topped a quick fire ten minute Bennetts British Superbike Championship warm up session at Silverstone this morning, marginally grabbing the top spot from Honda Racing teammate Glenn Irwin by 0.032s before the chequered flag.

Andrew Irwin set his fastest lap of the session in the closing minutes before a small crash at Brooklands ended his warm up prematurely, although with little damage he was able to return to pitlane.

Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW’s Luke Mossey had moved into third at the halfway point of the session, just ahead of yesterday’s race winner Tarran Mackenzie on the leading McAMS Yamaha.

Peter Hickman was fifth fastest on the Global Robots BMW, moving ahead of Kyle Ryde in the final moments as the Buildbase Suzuki rider split the BMWs as Héctor Barberá held seventh place after running inside the top five earlier in the session.

Lee Jackson led the Rapid Fulfillment FS-3 Kawasaki riders in eighth place with Bradley Ray and Josh Brookes completing the top ten, with the top 17 riders covered by just 0.502s ahead of the two races this afternoon.
