2021 Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup calendar announced

The 2021 Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup is all set to kick off at Oulton Park (May 1/2/3) as it prepares for its twelfth consecutive year of racing. The popular championship will continue in its current format as a support series for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship with sixteen races taking place over eight rounds at major circuits across the UK.

For 2021, the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup will make two visits to both Donington Park and Brands Hatch, the first of which will see the Ducati Cup support the Superbike World Championship when they visit the UK to race Donington Park’s full GP circuit.

The grid looks set to be another strong line-up with several well-known top racers setting their sights on the championship, which Josh Day will aim to defend for a second consecutive year. John McGuinness was one of many new riders to join the championship in 2020, with fast youngsters like Elliot Pinson and Edmund Best also competing in the one-make series.

The V2 Panigale will mark its second year in the championship although the preceding model the 959 Panigale will also be eligible for a final year in the 2021 championship.

The 155hp V2 Panigale features sophisticated electronics based on a 6-axis inertial platform and includes ABS cornering evo, Ducati Wheelie Control and Ducati Quick Shifter EVO 2, with up/down function. The V2 has a new fairing design, an under-engine silencer with an extremely compact right-side-only end pipe and the double-sided swingarm of the previous 959 Panigale has been replaced with a sophisticated, fully die-cast aluminum single-sided swingarm.

The Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup will again be sponsored by Ducati Performance, the brand name for promoting official Ducati accessories, many of which will be seen on the bikes racing on track and are also available to purchase through your local Ducati dealer Ducati TriOptions, is the brand name for Ducati Personal Contract Purchase. Steve Plater, Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup Brand Ambassador, said: “The Ducati Cup goes from strength to strength. It looks like we’ll have the full subscription on the grid next year. It’ll be a strong crowd for sure, with some younger lads coming in addition to some well-known names. And the strength of the 2021 grid has meant we’ll be enforcing a 110% qualification ruling to ensure even closer racing.

“The R&G Ducati Shield will also be running once more, and the grid is filling up with racers and teams contacting us to order their Panigale V2 machines. There are now just a few spaces on the grid still available, so those making plans for next season should make sure they don’t miss out if they want a slice of the action.

“We can’t wait for the first round to get underway at Oulton Park, hopefully with plenty of race fans in attendance.”
