Tarran Mackenzie set for Superbike debut with McAMS Yamaha

The 2018 British Superbike Championship will feature a new rider on the grid as 2016 British Supersport title-winner Tarran Mackenzie will make his much-anticipated debut, progressing to the premier class with McAMS Yamaha alongside Josh Brookes.

22-year-old Mackenzie stormed to the 2016 Supersport title and joined the McAMS Yamaha team as he bid to defend his crown, winning the opening six races last season before he was called up to race in the Moto2 World Championship.

Mackenzie is now relishing the next step in his career, he said: “It’s a big challenge but I know I’ve got a great bike and team around me to give me the best chance.

“You can see in past seasons what rookies can do and I would love to say I can go in and win races and finish on the podium, but I don’t think it’s going to be that easy!

“I think for now it’s best to get a good feeling with the bike and just learn how to ride it and the results will come – I can’t wait to get started.”
