Gilbertson becomes latest Cup contender
Kenny Gilbertson is the latest rider to add his name to the list of contenders for the 2009 Daily Star Cup after signing a deal with the Jx Fuelcard Kawasaki, with the new team launching their livery today (Friday).
Gilbertson is relishing the opportunity of being back on the BSB grid, having made some one-off race appearances in the past, but now with the backing of the Jx Fuelcard Kawasaki team he can challenge for the Daily Star Cup title in 2009.
Gilbertson told the BSB website: "I am really happy to have been given the chance to race in BSB full-time by the Jx Fuelcard Kawasaki team. I have done a handful of races in BSB before, but now I can just focus on racing in the Cup, whereas last year I was doing some races whilst still running in the National Superstock series. This will be the team's debut season in BSB so I want to give them some good results. For sure the competition in the Cup is stronger than it has ever been before but I am looking for podium finishes and aiming for the top ten in the main championship."
