McGreevy wins 2019 R&G Rookies’ Trophy!

2019 Pirelli National Superstock 600 Champion Korie McGreevy has been named the R&G Rookies’ Trophy winner, with Bennetts BSB Champion Scott Redding finishing second and Motostar rider Corey Tinker third. The final three were announced live on stage at Motorcycle Live and will now receive prizes from R&G, Pirelli and LS2 crash helmets.

After an action-packed year of racing across the Bennetts British Superbike Championship paddock, the top two rookie riders from each class were shortlisted as finalists for the 2019 R&G Rookies’ Trophy. Those 16 riders were then put to a panel of industry experts including Steve Plater, Stuart Higgs (BSB), Paul Haskins (LS2), Chris Lippitt (R&G) and a Pirelli representative who narrowed it down to the overall top three.

Announced onstage at Motorcycle Live, for winning the overall trophy Korie McGreevy was the lucky recipient of £750 cash, as well as £500 of product support from R&G, two sets of race tyres from Pirelli and an Arrow C Evo Helmet Carbon from LS2 with a 2020 Race Support Contract to cover service and product support.

The announcement of the Rookies tops a successful season for R&G, with its protected riders (who include the likes of Tommy Bridewell, Claudio Corti, Rory Skinner and Storm Stacey) taking multiple wins and podiums throughout the season. McGreevy and Scott Ogden also secured further Championship titles for R&G with victory in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 class and Hel Performance British Motostar Standard classes.

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett said: “The finalists for the 2019 R&G Rookies’ trophy has been a very tough decision for our judges as there has been some incredible performances from all 16 finalists. After that epic final round, Korie is a deserved winner of the Trophy though whilst both Scott and Corey were equally as impressive throughout the year.”
