Irwin topples Haslam from the top in final seconds of session three

02 May 2024

Glenn Irwin denied Leon Haslam the top position in the third session of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship R&G Official Test at Oulton Park, with his fastest time coming on his final lap on the Hager PBM Ducati. His time was still 0.264s adrift of his pace-setting time of yesterday, but it was still enough to displace the ROKiT Haslam Racing BMW Motorrad rider from the top position after he had initially taken the advantage just seconds before.

The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing charge was led by Ryan Vickers as the championship leader held third place with Jason O'Halloran on the Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki splitting the teammates by just 0.008s with Kyle Ryde in fifth place. Once again four different manufacturers were represented inside the leading four positions.

McAMS Racing Yamaha’s Danny Kent moved sixth fastest this morning ahead of reigning champion Tommy Bridewell for Honda Racing UK. Rory Skinner held eighth place for Cheshire Mouldings BMW Motorrad despite an initial tip off at Lodge at the start of the session with Josh Brookes and Max Cook completing the top ten.

The session was briefly red flagged when Peter Hickman crashed at Old Hall; the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad rider visited the medical centre, but will return to testing later this afternoon.
