Championship leader Vickers vying to hold advantage at Oulton Park

01 May 2024

Ryan Vickers claimed his first double win in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the season opener at Circuito de Navarra and the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider heads into this weekend’s second round at Oulton Park with a six-point lead.

Vickers held off the challenge from his Yamaha rivals in the two races as both his teammate Kyle Ryde and McAMS Racing Yamaha’s Danny Kent shared the podium places to arrive in Cheshire equal on points.

Vickers said: “I am feeling really good going into Oulton Park this weekend. To start the season with two wins and leading the championship is mega, it takes the pressure off and I can now just get into a rhythm and focus on being consistent and hitting my marks.

“Oulton Park is a circuit that I love, it is difficult with bike set-up and also physically, but I think this year with the improvements the team have made, and also myself I think this will be a very enjoyable round. Having the test too prior to the race weekend will really help us and we can get the set-up working well so I am looking forward to hopefully continuing this form and hopefully get some more podiums on the board and come away still leading the championship.”
